Luka Doncic, the newly established franchise star for the Los Angeles Lakers, is set to host the entire team roster in his native Slovenia for a four-day minicamp in August. The event aims to build team chemistry and allow players to bond before the upcoming season.

According to a source close to Doncic, the minicamp will include workouts, pick-up games, golfing, and exploration of Ljubljana. "Luka’s extremely excited to be hosting them in his hometown and having time for the team to bond ahead of the season," the source told the California Post.

The Lakers have embarked on a new era, with Doncic at the helm. His decision to host the minicamp reflects his understanding of the pressure on the team and the need for cohesion, especially after a summer of significant roster changes. These changes include the signing of center Walker Kessler to a four-year, $130 million deal, a move that directly fulfilled Doncic's request for an "A-list big man." Other free agent additions, such as Quentin Grimes, Collin Sexton, and Sandro Mamukelashvili, will also need to integrate seamlessly.

Doncic has been instrumental in shaping the roster alongside general manager Rob Pelinka. The departure of LeBron James further cemented Doncic's role as the team's leader. Despite his leadership and the team's efforts to build a competitive squad, questions remain about the roster's ability to gel on the court.

Beyond team dynamics, Doncic will also need to prove his durability throughout the year, having dealt with injuries in recent seasons. The minicamp in Slovenia represents the Lakers' first opportunity to build chemistry under Doncic's leadership as they face the pressure of the upcoming 2026-27 season.
