SALT LAKE CITY — Luka Doncic scored 52 points and added 10 assists, guiding the Los Angeles Lakers to a dramatic 132-123 comeback victory against the Utah Jazz on Sunday. The win extended the Lakers' season-opening streak to 3-0.
Doncic's offensive explosion, which included 17-of-30 shooting from the field and eight successful 3-pointers, marked his first 50-point game of the 2026-27 season. He also hit 10 of 11 free throws and pulled down 8 rebounds, narrowly missing a triple-double. Crucial to the Lakers' rally were three clutch 3-pointers late in the fourth quarter. The first tied the game at 116 with just over four minutes remaining, and the subsequent two gave the Lakers a lead they would not relinquish.
By the game's final seconds, "M-V-P" chants echoed from the Jazz's home arena as Doncic secured the win from the free-throw line.
Austin Reaves provided significant support with 29 points on 7-of-12 shooting and four assists. Ziaire Williams and Matisse Thybulle each contributed 11 points for the Lakers.
The Lakers faced an early deficit, trailing by 18 points after the first quarter. The Jazz dominated the opening period, outscoring the Lakers 47-29. Utah capitalized on offensive rebounds, securing 16 second-chance points and scoring 24 points in the paint, while shooting 5-of-10 from beyond the arc.
However, Los Angeles mounted a substantial comeback in the second quarter, outscoring the Jazz 45-24. Reaves led the charge with 15 points in the period. Doncic capped the second-quarter surge with a steal and a pull-up 3-pointer, giving the Lakers a 74-71 lead heading into halftime.
