Lucy Davis Jokes About Cancer at Games Night
The Office star Lucy Davis shared a light-hearted moment with friends as she navigates her incurable breast cancer diagnosis.
The Office star Lucy Davis, 53, recently gathered with friends for a games night, where she made a light-hearted joke about her battle with incurable breast cancer. Davis, who portrayed Dawn Tinsley in Ricky Gervais's sitcom, shared a photo from the event on Instagram, humorously attributing her poor performance in the game 'Celebrity' to her illness.
'A wonderful and much needed games night with good friends!' Davis captioned the post. 'We played ‘Celebrity’ which I was terrible at so I blamed my cancer. The utterly beautiful dog in the picture is Charlie, and I’m looking after him for a few weeks which is a gift! Thank you guys for coming! Love you all ♥️ #gamesnight.'
Davis announced her stage four breast cancer diagnosis in August, stating at the time that she 'doesn't know how long she has left' but is 'at peace with whatever comes next.' She shared her diagnosis alongside a video of herself ringing a cancer treatment bell, noting that she had been told it was 'too late' for chemotherapy.
Despite her diagnosis, Davis has remained active and engaged. Last week, she teamed up with Canadian actress Caroline Rhea, 62, for a humorous promotional video for a VIP meet and greet event. Both actresses have played the character Aunt Hilda Spellman in different iterations of the Sabrina the Teenage Witch franchise.
In the video, Rhea, who starred in the original ABC series, declared herself the 'OG' Aunt Hilda, while Davis, who appeared in Netflix's reboot, playfully took a balloon from Rhea, indicating her own role as Aunt Hilda.
They are set to participate in a 'Two Hildas Fly Into A Bar' event in Salem, Massachusetts, where they will share stories about their experiences playing the character and their lives. The event includes a VIP meet and greet with pictures and autographs.
Davis has been keeping busy with activities such as hiking and spending time with friends since coming to terms with her diagnosis.
