Actress Lucy Davis expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support following her announcement of a stage four breast cancer diagnosis. Davis made her first public appearance at a convention in London less than two weeks after revealing her condition.
In an August 11 announcement, Davis stated that her cancer had metastasized to her bones, and that a diagnosis a year and a half prior meant chemotherapy was no longer an option. During the convention, she signed autographs and posed for photographs, though her health was not directly addressed by fans.
Davis, known for her role as Dawn Tinsley in the BBC sitcom The Office and as Dianne in the cult film Shaun of the Dead, shared that her favorite filming memories included pretending to be zombies with her castmates. She also offered advice to aspiring individuals in the film industry, emphasizing that personal limitations are often self-imposed.
Two days after revealing her diagnosis, Davis thanked fans for their kindness and support, describing the response as “utterly overwhelming” and “emotional.”
