Actress Lucy Davis, 53, has completed a demanding hike and zip line in California's Temescal Valley, weeks after revealing her diagnosis of incurable stage four breast cancer. Davis announced last month that she has been diagnosed with the condition, which has metastasized to her bones, and expressed a determination to "live out whatever might be left of my life in as fun a way as I possibly can."
Despite experiencing physical challenges that sometimes make standing and walking difficult, Davis took on the trek through Skull Canyon. She shared her pride in completing the physical challenge, noting that the hike to the first zip line took over an hour. "I was so grateful for the support of the guides and my friend @jharris1231 who helped me up, and the other people on the hike that never judged me or made me feel stupid," she stated.
Fans have responded to Davis's posts with messages of support, calling her an "inspiration." She has acknowledged the support, including a comment where she mentioned that the zip line itself was easier than the hike past beehives.
Last month, Davis made her first public appearance since her diagnosis, attending a sci-fi convention in London. She was supported by her father, comedian Jasper Carrott, and reunited with her Shaun of the Dead co-star Simon Pegg and director Edgar Wright. During the event, Davis spoke about the importance of kindness and community, calling her fans her "second family."
Davis shared that she discovered a small lump in her breast a year ago but initially delayed seeking medical attention. Despite her incurable diagnosis, she stated she is "at peace with whatever comes next." Her previous health concerns include a kidney transplant in 1997 and a period of kidney failure eight years later. She has also been open about her history with bulimia, which was most challenging during a divorce in 2011.
