France international Lucas Digne has completed a move from Aston Villa to Paris Saint-Germain, signing a three-year contract with the club.
Digne, 33, returns to the Parc des Princes where he spent the early part of his career. He joined Aston Villa from Everton in 2022 and had been with the Birmingham club for three years. His transfer to PSG was facilitated by the activation of an £8.5 million release clause in his contract.
"I am very honoured to be returning to Paris St-Germain following the wonderful experience I had here more than ten years ago," Digne stated. "I am particularly impressed by how the club has developed over the years."
Digne's arrival is expected to provide competition for PSG's current first-choice left-back, Nuno Mendes. Digne previously made 30 appearances for PSG during his initial spell at the club before transferring to Barcelona in 2016. He was part of the Aston Villa team that won the Europa League last season, securing the club's first trophy since 1996.
Digne's departure marks the third senior exit from Aston Villa this season, following Morgan Rogers' move to Chelsea and Youri Tielemans' transfer to Manchester United.
