Louisiana State University (LSU) has finalized its football roster for the season, a decision that appears to have resolved a significant controversy and prevented potential expulsion from the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
SEC leaders had been scheduled to convene on Thursday to discuss the possibility of removing LSU from the league. The potential sanctions stemmed from an effort by LSU head coach Lane Kiffin to add former NFL players Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris to the team's roster. Both players had signed contracts with NFL teams as undrafted rookies in the spring but subsequently enrolled at LSU in an unusual bid to return to college football.
However, LSU has now added two different players to its 105-man roster. This move effectively locks in the team's roster for the remainder of the season and eliminates any opportunity for Wright or Harris to play for LSU in 2026. The university has been contacted for confirmation.
Prior to this final decision, LSU had maintained only 103 players on its roster for its season-opening victory against Clemson. Coach Kiffin had deferred the decision to add Wright or Harris while the situation was under review amid apparent opposition from other SEC members.
