Low-Cost Food Pantry Secures Significant Lottery Grant

Oasis Hub Bath, a low-cost food pantry, has been awarded a £272,000 grant from the lottery. The funding is allocated to cover the organization's primary operating expenses for the next three years.
The pantry serves individuals and families in Bath with an annual household income below £18,000, or those experiencing food insecurity and residing in eligible areas. Members can choose from two tiers: a £5 weekly membership for six items or a £7.50 weekly membership for ten items. These tiers provide access to cupboard staples, toiletries, and household goods, with some fresh items like fruits and vegetables available for free.
One member, identified as Sam, shared that the pantry has been life-changing. He recounted an instance where a nurse at the pantry detected his dangerously high blood pressure, prompting him to seek immediate hospital care. Medical professionals diagnosed him with severe hypertension. "Coming here saved my life, so I am so grateful to the pantry and all their staff because I wouldn't be here today without that," he stated.
