Love Island Australia Cast Revealed Amid AI Controversy

Love Island Australia has announced its cast for the 2026 season, featuring a diverse group of singles including an ex-NRL player, a former beauty queen, and the son of a former Prime Minister. The reveal comes shortly after the show faced public backlash regarding its use of artificial intelligence in a promotional video.

The 14 contestants vying for love in the Fijian villa include professional athletes, models, entrepreneurs, and outspoken personalities. Among them are Phoebe, a 23-year-old socialite from Adelaide who reportedly spent a significant inheritance quickly; Sammi, a 23-year-old model and former Miss New Zealand who has had past flings with rugby players; and Shawnee, a 27-year-old Gold Coast fitness coach previously involved with a former Love Island contestant.

Other notable cast members include Amanda, a 26-year-old Sydney jeweller and model; Layla, a 22-year-old Canberra Pilates instructor seeking to move on from a breakup; Natalie, a 23-year-old airline ground crew member from the Gold Coast; and Ava, a 24-year-old traffic controller from Perth, originally from England.

Representing the male contestants are Jordan, a 24-year-old property investor from Canberra and son of a former Prime Minister of Tonga; Keanu, a 25-year-old tradie and former NRL player; Zel, a 28-year-old model and former professional footballer; and Jarrar, a 22-year-old diesel fitter from Wollongong known for his resemblance to NRL star Reece Walsh.

Rounding out the cast are Lachie, a 26-year-old Sydney chiropractor known for his outspoken social media presence; Oli, a 26-year-old Perth personal trainer who claims dating difficulties stem from being too tall and handsome; and Jack, a 24-year-old tradie trainer from the Gold Coast looking to settle down.

The controversy surrounding the show's AI use erupted after Channel Nine released a teaser video featuring Love Island USA host Ariana Madix. While Madix filmed her segment, the advertisement incorporated AI-generated visuals, including virtual models and scenery. Madix publicly stated she was unaware her footage would be used with AI, expressing opposition to the technology. Viewers also voiced their disapproval on social media, criticizing the network for what they perceived as cutting corners, drawing parallels to similar criticism leveled at Nine's renovation series, The Block, for its use of AI in music and visual effects.
