Louisiana Caregiver Filmed Adding Bleach to Disabled Patient's Drink

A caregiver in Lake Charles, Louisiana, has been arrested after being filmed by a patient's family mixing bleach into the individual's drink. The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Reginald Wilson, was seen pouring bleach into a bottle in the victim's kitchen on Monday.

Video footage shows Wilson, dressed in black scrubs, then entering the living room where the disabled patient was watching television and offering the contaminated drink. The patient later told police that they could taste bleach in the beverage.

Following the confrontation by the victim's family, Wilson reportedly confessed to the act, according to WCTV.

Wilson, who was employed by a company called Heaven on Earth, has been charged with mingling harmful substances, cruelty to persons with infirmities, and aggravated battery. He faces a potential prison sentence of up to two years if convicted.

Heaven on Earth issued a statement condemning Wilson's actions, stating that the client's health and safety are their top priority and that abuse is not tolerated. The company reported that they immediately removed the worker and transported the client to an emergency room for evaluation. They confirmed they are cooperating with local and state authorities and that Wilson has been fired. A spokesperson for the company noted that due to HIPAA regulations, further details could not be shared, but emphasized that the actions of one individual do not represent the agency's staff, many of whom perform outstanding work. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
