Louis Theroux on Fitness, Booze, and Past Habits
Broadcaster Louis Theroux discusses his daily exercise routine, love for alcohol, and past cannabis use.
Broadcaster Louis Theroux, 56, has shared details about his current fitness regimen and his ongoing relationship with alcohol and past cannabis use. Theroux revealed that he incorporates Joe Wicks' exercise program into his daily routine, a commitment he has maintained for some time.
In an interview on Katherine Ryan's podcast "What's My Age Again," Theroux stated that he uses the Joe Wicks app and believes the daily workouts contribute to his physical well-being. He also humorously suggested the exercises help him "look a little better with [his] clothes off."
Despite his dedication to exercise, Theroux admitted that he continues to enjoy alcoholic beverages. He described appreciating the progression of drinking, from the first drink to being drunk, and even finding pleasure in the subsequent groggy feeling the next day, which he then counteracts with exercise.
Theroux also reflected on his past habit of smoking cannabis, stating he consumed a "nightly spliff" through his late teens and 20s, primarily as a sleep aid. He noted that he would sometimes consume more than one.
This is not the first time Theroux has spoken about his fitness journey with Joe Wicks. In 2021, he posted a shirtless photo after completing a 15-minute workout, emphasizing the importance of physical and mental health during uncertain times. He has also participated in Wicks' ice bath challenge, enduring the cold for a full minute before completing a workout together. Wicks has previously indicated that Theroux exercises with him approximately five days a week.
