Los Angeles Shooting Leaves Two Dead, Dozens Detained Near Cal State University Northridge
Authorities responded to reports of a large party at a strip mall near the university when gunshots were heard.
At least two people were killed and dozens were detained following a shooting at a strip mall near the California State University Northridge campus on Friday night. The incident occurred just after 11 p.m. at University Plaza, located a block from the university.
Police had been called to the plaza due to reports of a large party when they heard gunshots, according to KABC. One individual was also reportedly stabbed during the chaos. Aerial video showed officers talking to handcuffed individuals inside a cordoned-off crime scene that encompassed several businesses within the plaza.
Dozens of people were detained outside the building where they had reportedly been inside a nearby lounge at the time of the incident. Officials have not yet announced any arrests or released further details regarding the conditions of those injured or specifics of the shooting.
