Lorraine Kelly Credits Lifestyle Changes for Waistline Return
The 66-year-year-old TV presenter attributes her return to a size 10 to swapping alcohol and comfort eating for gym sessions and walking.
Lorraine Kelly, 66, has announced she has regained her previous waistline after making significant lifestyle changes, including reducing alcohol consumption and altering her eating habits. The television presenter shared with Closer magazine that she has returned to a size 10, a change she attributes to increased exercise and a reduction in "comfort eating" and evening drinks.
Kelly and her husband, Steve Smith, have adopted a healthier routine together. They have reduced their intake of alcohol and sweet treats in the evenings and attend gym classes specifically designed for individuals over 60 twice a week. Kelly noted that this change has been beneficial for her health and has helped her notice a difference in her overall physique.
"I was chunky, I'd been comfort eating and that was a wake-up call," Kelly told Closer magazine. "So we both really got onto it. We stopped boozing and the chocolate plate at night."
Her improved fitness has also proven useful in keeping up with her two-year-old granddaughter. Kelly previously mentioned to Saga Magazine that she and her husband decided to go to the gym twice a week for strength and balance. She also stated that her husband, who handles the cooking, reduced her portion sizes, and they eliminated their nightly ritual of tea and a "chocolate plate."
Kelly also revealed that she has been incorporating swimming and walking her dog into her routine, alongside taking supplements. The presenter acknowledged that while she will likely always have a "wee bit of a tummy" as a woman, the exercise has made a noticeable difference.
The motivation for these changes included preparing for her daughter Rosie's wedding, which took place in July at the Andy Murray-owned Cromlix Hotel near Dunblane, Scotland. Rosie, an influencer, married her partner Steve White. Kelly has expressed joy in becoming a grandmother to Rosie's daughter, Billie, and has recently moved closer to her daughter's family, noting that it offers her a chance to experience motherhood again in a different capacity.
