Lord Ivar Mountbatten's Daughter Ella Weds in West Sussex

Lord Ivar Mountbatten, a cousin of King Charles, recently celebrated the wedding of his daughter Ella to Fergus Wright at St Luke's in Milland, West Sussex. Prince Edward and Sophie were among the guests at the ceremony, which saw Lord Ivar escort his daughter down the aisle.

Lord Ivar, 63, described the occasion as an "emotional couple of days" and noted that the preceding month had been "non-stop." Ella, an events manager, called the wedding "epic."

The engagement between Ella and Fergus, an insurance professional, was announced in July 2025. At the time, Lord Ivar shared his happiness on Instagram, expressing his delight that Fergus had "finally put us all out of our misery" after a period of waiting. He conveyed his confidence that Fergus would always care for his daughter, stating, "I know he will look after my daughter to his dying day - they couldn't be better suited."

Lord Ivar, who has three children—Ella, Alix, and Luli—with his ex-wife Penny Mountbatten, concluded his engagement announcement with "Much love to you both. X #happycouple #finally #1down2togo." Ella was pictured beaming, showcasing her emerald and diamond-encrusted engagement ring.

Lord Ivar made history in 2018 by becoming the first member of the extended Royal Family to enter a same-sex union, marrying James Coyle, an air cabin services director. He had previously been married to Penny Eastwood in 1994.

In April 2024, Lord Ivar and James Coyle placed their country estate, Bridwell Park in mid-Devon, on the market for £5.5 million. The estate had been in the Mountbatten family since 1997. The couple moved out in September 2024 to allow the new owners to settle in, relocating to a rented thatched cottage nearby. Lord Ivar expressed his satisfaction with renting, telling The Times that it offered a lack of maintenance and considerable comfort with modern amenities.
