‘Looksmaxxing’ Influencer Charged With Rape in Massachusetts

A social media influencer known online as “Clavicular,” who gained a following promoting the “looksmaxxing” trend, has been charged in Massachusetts with raping a 17-year-old girl. The accuser told police she became heavily intoxicated after Peters allegedly gave her alcohol at his family's Cape Cod home.

Braden Peters, 20, is charged with rape, administering a substance for sexual intercourse, and procuring alcohol for a person under 21. The alleged assault occurred on May 23, 2025, in Chatham. A clerk-magistrate found probable cause for the charges on September 4, and a criminal complaint was issued on September 8.

Peters is not in custody and is scheduled to be arraigned on October 14 in Orleans District Court. His publicist did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The accuser told Chatham police that she and Peters began messaging on Instagram. She stated that he later paid her to appear in “looksmaxxing” videos he streamed online. According to a police report, Peters knew she was 17 but instructed her to tell viewers she was 18 and to claim the vodka he provided was water.

On May 23, 2025, the girl reportedly took a rideshare to Peters’ family home in the gated community of Morris Island. She told police that Peters’ mother and grandmother greeted her before Peters escorted her to his room, where he was livestreaming on Twitch. She stated she drank what she believed to be two or three shots of vodka and became increasingly intoxicated. A police officer reviewing clips from Peters’ livestream noted one clip where the girl said, “Wait I’m so drunk though.” Peters responded, “It’s OK,” before they kissed, according to the police report. After the livestream ended, the accuser stated they went to his bedroom, where she fell asleep and awoke the next morning to Peters raping her.

The alleged assault was previously described in a lawsuit filed against Peters in Florida in April. That lawsuit also accuses Peters of injecting the girl with a fat-dissolving substance during a livestream without her consent. Peters has denied the allegations in the lawsuit.

Peters, often described as the face of the “looksmaxxing” trend, is a social media personality whose pursuit of traditional attractiveness has garnered significant online attention. He livestreams his activities nearly daily, often showing time spent at parties and clubs or conversing with women. His largest followings are on TikTok, Instagram, and the streaming platform Kick.

“Looksmaxxing” has roots in the “involuntary celibate” or “incel” online subculture, which comprises individuals, predominantly men, who believe they are unjustly denied romantic or sexual attention. Peters has denied any affiliation with the incel community, stating that looksmaxxing is about self-improvement.
