NBA player Lonzo Ball has addressed confusion surrounding his career status, refuting recent reports that suggested he had retired from the league. The clarification came after an emotional interview clip from his "Ball in the Family Podcast" circulated widely, leading to speculation about his future.

In the podcast episode, Ball discussed the impact of injuries on his career, expressing a sense of unfulfilled potential. "To be honest, I don’t think I ever got to my peak. And damn, that sh** sucks, but at the same time there’s people that don’t have meals at night to eat. That’s how I look at the world," Ball said. This statement was taken out of context by some social media accounts, which interpreted it as a retirement announcement.

However, Ball took to X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday to directly address the rumors. "I retired? News to me lol cuz I’m still waiting for a call… NBA season long 🤷🏻‍♂️," he posted, indicating he is still seeking an opportunity in the NBA.

Ball is currently an unrestricted free agent. He mentioned in the podcast that he had considered playing overseas in Dubai but ultimately decided against it. The 28-year-old's comments suggest his playing career is not yet over.

Ball's NBA journey began with the Los Angeles Lakers, who selected him with the No. 2 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. He was later traded to the New Orleans Pelicans before signing with the Chicago Bulls.
