Long Island Father Arrested for Tasering Autistic Son

A Long Island father has been arrested after allegedly using a taser on his autistic teenage son in an attempt to control him during an emotional outburst. The incident occurred Monday, according to Nassau County police.

Authorities were alerted to the situation when the principal of a Plainview middle school reported that the 14-year-old child had visible scratches and bruising on his stomach and neck. Police determined that the injuries were inflicted by his father, Jin Chang, 52, during a domestic dispute.

Chang was charged with second-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child. The taser used in the incident was confiscated. He was arraigned on Wednesday, pleaded not guilty, and was released on bail set at $50,000 cash, $125,000 bond, or a $250,000 partially secured bond.
