Weeping loved ones paid tribute Sunday to Allison Rahmani, a 40-year-old Long Island teacher and mother of four, who died Friday after her SUV plunged into the family’s backyard swimming pool.
During the funeral service at Boulevard-Riverside Chapels in Hewlett, Nassau County, Rahmani’s sister, Dana Hess, described her as “the life of the party” and an educator who taught “because she loved to.” Hess shared that Rahmani saw potential in students others might have overlooked, stating, “Where somebody else saw a difficult child, Ali saw potential.”
Rahmani’s husband, Matthew Rahmani, remembered his wife as someone who “poured her heart and soul into her community.”
The incident occurred Friday when Rahmani lost control of her vehicle, driving it into the pool at her Hewlett home. The exact circumstances leading to her losing control of the SUV are still being investigated.
