London Man Jailed Four Years for Voyeurism
Anthony Durkan, 35, admitted 26 voyeurism charges for secretly filming women in their homes.
Anthony Durkan, a 35-year-old father of two, has been sentenced to four years in prison for committing 26 counts of voyeurism. Durkan admitted to secretly filming women inside their homes in Islington, London.
Prosecutors stated that Durkan would dress in black clothing and wear a balaclava while lurking outside victims' homes, filming them through windows at night. In January 2026, a woman reported Durkan to the police, describing him repeatedly appearing outside her home and pointing his mobile phone towards her windows. These incidents were captured on a neighbor's doorbell camera.
Weeks later, officers responded to another report in Islington where a woman had spotted a man, later identified as Durkan, recording her through her window. She confronted him, and he fled the scene. This encounter was also recorded by a security camera.
Durkan was apprehended by a plainclothes police officer on March 26 while in the act of filming. He was wearing a black hoodie and carrying a cigarette and phone. When informed of his arrest on suspicion of voyeurism, he reportedly expressed confusion.
The prosecution indicated that Durkan was filming victims in "various states of undress." A hidden gallery on his seized mobile phone contained hundreds of images and videos, which allowed police to link him to offenses dating back to 2020. Detectives are currently working to identify additional victims.
Durkan pleaded guilty to 26 counts of voyeurism at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court and was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court. Detective Chief Inspector Gemma Alger described Durkan's actions as a "calculated and deeply intrusive campaign of offending" that targeted women in their homes. She highlighted that many victims were unaware they were being filmed. Alger commended the proactive work of officers who identified and arrested Durkan, preventing further offenses, and thanked the victims for their courage in coming forward.
