Lloyds Bank Offers £200 Incentive for New Current Account Holders

Lloyds Bank is offering a £200 incentive to customers who switch their current account to a Club Lloyds account. The offer requires new customers to use the Current Account Switch Service by December 9 and to switch at least three active direct debits from their old account. Payments from standing orders or recurring card payments do not qualify for the incentive.

One of the key attractions of this offer is the speed of the payout. Lloyds states that the £200 bonus will be credited to the new account within 14 days of the switch initiating, provided all conditions are met. This is significantly faster than other recent bank switching offers, such as those from HSBC, which can take up to 60 days, or Santander, which has a 90-day payout period.

The Club Lloyds account comes with a £5 monthly fee, which is waived if customers deposit £2,000 or more each month. Account holders can also select an annual 'lifestyle benefit,' which can include options like a Disney Plus subscription, cinema tickets, or discounts on dining and coffee.

To be eligible for the £200 bonus, customers must open an eligible Lloyds current account, such as the Club Lloyds account (including Platinum or Silver variants) or a Lloyds Premier account. Customers who have received a switching offer from Lloyds, Halifax, or Bank of Scotland since January 1, 2023, are not eligible. It is important for customers to note that Lloyds, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland are part of the same banking group, and switching between these brands will not qualify for the incentive.

Lloyds Bank has been gradually phasing out the Halifax brand, with Halifax customers eventually transitioning to Lloyds accounts. Potential switchers are advised to assess the suitability of Lloyds as their primary bank, considering factors such as branch access and overdraft facilities.

While the Lloyds offer is competitive due to its rapid payout, other banks are currently offering higher cash incentives. Santander's £240 offer, for example, closes on October 7. HSBC is offering £220, and its associated brand First Direct has increased its offer to £210 until December 2. NatWest offers £200, and Nationwide provides £175. However, the prompt payout from Lloyds makes its offer particularly appealing for those seeking funds quickly, especially in anticipation of the upcoming festive season and Black Friday shopping events.
