Liz Sagal, 80s Star and 'Doublemint Twin', Spotted in Los Angeles

Liz Sagal, one half of the famed "Doublemint Twins" and a star of the 1980s sitcom "Double Trouble," was recently seen on a rare solo outing in Los Angeles. Sagal, now 65, gained recognition alongside her identical twin sister, Jean, through their prominent roles in advertising and television.

The Sagal sisters are perhaps best known for their long-running association with the Doublemint gum advertising campaign, considered one of the most iconic in U.S. history, which spanned from 1959 to 2005. Their celebrity extended to a sitcom, "Double Trouble," which aired for two seasons from 1984 to 1985. In the series, they played the roles of Kate and Allison Foster, two teenagers navigating life under the care of their widowed father.

Before their sitcom success, Liz and Jean Sagal appeared as cheerleaders in the 1982 film "Grease 2." The twins hail from a family with deep ties to the entertainment industry. Their father, Boris Sagal, was a notable director whose credits include "The Omega Man" and episodes of "The Twilight Zone." Their mother, Sara Zwilling, was a pioneering female assistant director, producer, and writer. The sisters are also stepdaughters of dancer and actress Marge Champion. Their brother, Joey Sagal, is also an actor and screenwriter, with credits including "The Return of Swamp Thing." Their older sister, Katey Sagal, achieved significant fame for her role as Peg Bundy on the television series "Married... with Children."
