Liverpool's Barcola Set to Play Brighton, Hurzeler Dismisses Man United Rumors
Forward Bradley Barcola is fit to face Brighton, while Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler stated his full focus remains on his current club amidst speculation linking him to Manchester United.
Liverpool has received a fitness boost with forward Bradley Barcola declared fit to play against Brighton on Sunday, despite missing some training this week. Barcola had been managing a minor issue and did not participate in the full team session on Thursday. He returned to training on Friday, but fellow winger Victor Munoz is unlikely to feature due to a knock.
Manager Andoni Iraola confirmed Barcola's availability, stating, 'Bradley has trained today normally, he's fine.' He added that Munoz, who suffered a knee knock against Brentford but played through the pain to score, is dealing with some pain and his participation is uncertain. Iraola acknowledged Brighton as a well-coached team, strong in all phases of play and possessing significant quality.
Meanwhile, Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler has dismissed speculation linking him to the Manchester United manager's job. Following a recent heavy defeat for Manchester United and criticism from captain Bruno Fernandes, Hurzeler has been mentioned as a potential replacement for Michael Carrick. However, Hurzeler emphasized his complete focus on his role at Brighton.
'I am really focused on my job here,' Hurzeler stated. 'I have no time to think about these rumours because we play every three days.' He also expressed high respect for Carrick, calling him a 'great human being' and a 'great personality,' with whom he maintains a good relationship. Hurzeler added that there is nothing more to say on the matter.
Brighton, currently the Premier League's top scorers with 23 goals, drew their last match 0-0 in the Conference League. Hurzeler remains committed to improving his squad, expressing his privilege to be part of the club's journey.
