Lisa I'Anson, the former BBC Radio 1 DJ, has separated from her husband, Amos Pizzey, after growing apart, according to reports. I'Anson, 61, and Pizzey, 59, who was a prominent figure in London's social scene before they relocated to Los Angeles, married in the 1990s. The couple share a daughter, and I'Anson also has a son from a previous relationship.
I'Anson has returned to London while Pizzey remains in Los Angeles. A friend of I'Anson's stated that they "simply grew apart" and that the DJ is now focused on rebuilding her media career.
Pizzey's mother, Erin Pizzey, founded the pioneering domestic violence shelter Refuge. Pizzey himself was a member of the band Culture Club in his youth and later co-founded the Met Bar, a popular venue during the 'Cool Britannia' era. After moving to the U.S., he founded the internet company Talenthouse.
I'Anson's tenure at Radio 1 in the 1990s was marked by a notable incident where her breakfast show reportedly began while she was still participating in an event in Ibiza. This led to a final warning, a wage deduction, and an apology to her colleagues. Six months later, she departed Radio 1 by mutual agreement.
Both Lisa I'Anson and Amos Pizzey have declined to comment on the separation.
