Lisa Faulkner Is 'Through the Big Hills' of Breast Cancer Battle, Friend Says
Actress Angela Griffin provides an update on Faulkner's health, stating she is doing well after surgery and upcoming radiotherapy.
Actress Lisa Faulkner is "through the big hills" of her breast cancer battle, according to her close friend Angela Griffin. Faulkner, 54, revealed in July that she had undergone surgery for breast cancer and was preparing for radiotherapy.
Griffin shared the update on Thursday's This Morning, stating that Faulkner has endured a "really tough time" but is "doing really well." The update came shortly after Faulkner's husband, John Torode, spoke about how her diagnosis had "changed everything."
"The most important thing to me is health and being with my wife, Lisa, and if I have that, everything else pales into insignificance," Torode told The Times. Faulkner echoed this sentiment, telling the publication, "Cancer comes along and knocks you again and you suddenly realise that none of the other stuff matters. It changes everything. You suddenly realise what is important and the rest goes out of the window."
Faulkner married Torode in October 2019. She first shared news of her diagnosis online, explaining she had been undergoing treatment. She had surgery two weeks prior to her announcement, describing it as "quite a big op" but stated that "it's all good" and that doctors had "got everything out."
Faulkner also expressed gratitude for early detection through mammograms, urging others to attend their screenings. "I just wanted to say don't put them off, go, because they found this and without that mammogram it wouldn't have been picked up," she said, thanking the NHS for the available treatment.
Griffin's comments followed a lunch with Faulkner and mutual friends Tamzin Outhwaite and Amanda Holden. Faulkner had previously posted a tribute to her husband on his 61st birthday, expressing her reliance on him during the challenging months.
"What a year it's been but we held each other's hands and I couldn't have got through these past few months without you by my side," she wrote on social media. "You are the kindest man with the gentlest biggest heart and you make my heart thump."
