Lionel Richie's recent health incidents during his "Sing A Song All Night Long" tour have left his children deeply concerned about his well-being. Insiders close to the 77-year-old entertainer have expressed that his children, Nicole, Sofia, and Miles, are "crazy scared they could lose him," fearing serious heart issues.

Richie abruptly halted a concert in St. Paul, Minnesota, in June, citing dizziness. He was subsequently hospitalized and underwent tests for cardiac-related issues. Another incident occurred in St. Louis where he appeared to struggle to stand and breathe during a performance. These events have intensified his family's worry, with his daughters, Nicole and Sofia, reportedly taking on a more parental role, encouraging him to slow down.

Sources suggest that Richie's relentless work ethic, including his demanding role as a judge on "American Idol" and his current tour, is a significant concern. "They have worried that Lionel was working too hard with this new tour on the heels of eight seasons of American Idol, which is a super demanding job," one insider told the Daily Mail.

Fellow "American Idol" judge Luke Bryan has also reportedly urged Richie to take a break. Despite his considerable wealth, estimated at over $200 million, Richie appears driven by a love for the spotlight and his career momentum. "He puts his health at risk to work super hard even though he is 77 – work is like an addiction for him and he refuses to retire," a source stated.

This is not the first time Richie has faced health concerns. In the early 1990s, he underwent four throat operations for an undisclosed condition, which he later described as nearly leading to a "nervous breakdown." He revealed in 2025 that he had been diagnosed with ADHD. The throat issues were eventually traced to acid reflux.

Now, with four grandchildren, Richie's loved ones are emphasizing the importance of his health. He is reportedly "very eager to get back out on tour," but his team is closely monitoring his condition. A decision on his return to the stage is expected in the coming weeks, with the goal of ensuring he remains healthy for his family and his performances.
