Lionel Richie Hospitalized Again for Heart Issue
The legendary singer is being treated for atrial fibrillation, leading to the cancellation of upcoming tour dates.
Lionel Richie has been hospitalized for the second time in a month, receiving treatment for atrial fibrillation, an irregular heartbeat. Sources told TMZ that the 77-year-old underwent a common procedure for AFib, which his representative confirmed went "perfectly."
The singer is reportedly undergoing an AFib ablation, a minimally invasive procedure designed to correct faulty electrical signals in the heart. Richie's representative stated that he is "doing great" but will take time off.
As a result of his health issues, the next three scheduled tour dates with Earth, Wind & Fire have been canceled. These shows were set to take place in San Francisco, Chicago, and Columbus, Ohio. This follows a previous three-day hospitalization for Richie, during which he checked himself into intensive care.
