Lion Cubs Engage in Playful Tussle with Tortoise in Kalahari
Young lions were observed interacting with a tortoise, an encounter captured by photographer Jens Cullmann.
Two lion cubs were recently observed engaging in playful antics with a tortoise in the Kalahari region of Botswana. The young lions were seen pawing at the reptile, and at one point, one cub appeared to attempt a nibble.
The tortoise, in response, retreated into its shell as the cubs maneuvered around it. Photographer Jens Cullmann documented the encounter, noting that the interaction lasted only a few minutes before the cubs lost interest.
Following the brief interaction, the cubs departed to rejoin the adult lions that had moved ahead. The tortoise was unharmed and was able to make a quick escape.
Cullmann, who frequently photographs wildlife, once embarked on a journey from Germany to South Africa, documenting various animals along the route.
