The ex-husband of Lindsay Clancy, who was on trial for killing their three young children, described the possibility of a retrial as "extraordinarily painful." Lindsay Clancy's former husband, Patrick Clancy, expressed gratitude to the court and jurors for their efforts following a mistrial declared Friday afternoon.
"The loss of Patrick’s children is something from which he will never recover and from which there will never be closure," Patrick Clancy's attorney, David Meier, said in a statement. "The prospect of reliving this tragedy through another trial is extraordinarily painful — for Patrick, for his family, and for all us."
Lindsay Clancy was accused of killing her children Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan, using exercise bands in their Duxbury, Massachusetts, home. Patrick Clancy, the father of the children, has not been present at the Plymouth Superior Court since he testified at the beginning of the trial on July 27. Earlier in the week, he was seen with his new wife.
