The murder trial of Lindsay Clancy is entering its final day of evidence, with a key psychiatrist scheduled to testify about her mental state at the time she killed her three children. Clancy, 36, is accused of strangling her children Cora, eight, Dawson, five, and Callan, eight months, in their Duxbury, Massachusetts home in January 2023.

Clancy, a former labor and delivery nurse, has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, citing postpartum psychosis. Her defense attorneys are seeking a commitment to a state mental health facility rather than a prison sentence. They have asked the jury to consider involuntary manslaughter and second-degree murder alongside first-degree murder charges.

Over five weeks, the court has heard testimony from expert witnesses, doctors, friends, family members, and Clancy's ex-husband, Patrick. On Tuesday, Dr. Gregory Saathoff, a forensic psychiatrist from the University of Virginia who has consulted with the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit, returned to the stand. He presented new details regarding Clancy's account of the killings, including a hallucination involving a mysterious male voice she claimed to hear.

Clancy has admitted to the killings but maintains her plea of not guilty by reason of insanity.
