A mistrial has been declared in the case of Lindsay Clancy, accused of murdering her three young children. The declaration came Friday from Judge William Sullivan after the jury reported being hopelessly deadlocked on the verdict.
Clancy, 36, of Duxbury, Massachusetts, faces charges of strangling her three children with exercise bands on January 24, 2023. The six-week trial concluded without a unanimous decision from the jury.
Clancy's defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, stated his willingness to negotiate a plea deal with Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz. "I'm willing to listen to Tim. I've known Tim for 30 years. He's a very hard-charging prosecutor," Reddington said in an interview Tuesday. He expressed hope that the district attorney would "revisit that issue and hopefully would be able to work something out that would be acceptable to both sides" after reviewing the evidence presented during the trial.
Reddington, 75, had previously indicated that the district attorney's office was not amenable to a plea offer. The mistrial marks a new phase in the case, with the defense now seeking a resolution through negotiation.
