Liam Rosenior is reportedly in discussions to become the new head coach of Ligue 1 side Paris FC, marking a potential return to French football.
The 41-year-old Englishman has been without a club since his dismissal from Chelsea in April, where his tenure lasted just 106 days. Chelsea's season had been marked by player accusations of disengagement and a streak of five consecutive league losses without scoring, a sequence not seen since 1912. The fifth loss in that streak, a 3-0 defeat against Brighton, led to Rosenior's sacking.
Rosenior previously managed in Ligue 1 with Strasbourg, a club also owned by BlueCo, Chelsea's ownership group. Strasbourg subsequently appointed Gary O'Neil, who has since moved to Ipswich Town. Paris FC finished 11th in Ligue 1 last season under Antoine Kombouare. The club, which secured promotion to Ligue 1 in 2025 for the first time since 1979, is backed by the Arnault family.
Bernard Arnault, a patriarch of the family, was ranked seventh on Forbes' 2026 list of the world's richest people with an estimated net worth of $171 billion. The Arnaults acquired Paris FC in 2024 when the team was in Ligue 2.
Red Bull, with Jurgen Klopp as head of global soccer, also holds a minority stake in the French club. Meanwhile, Manchester City is nearing an agreement with Chelsea for compensation regarding Enzo Maresca, who is expected to be announced as their new head coach. Maresca had informed Chelsea of his discussions with Manchester City about succeeding Pep Guardiola.
Chelsea's performance declined after Maresca's departure. Following Rosenior's dismissal, Calum McFarlane served as interim coach until the end of the season. Xabi Alonso is set to begin his role as Chelsea's new manager on July 1.
