Liam Obergfoll, a new face in the second season of Bravo's 'Next Gen NYC', has opened up about his experience on the show, including a brief romantic connection with Ariana Biermann and his interactions with her mother, reality television personality Kim Zolciak.
Obergfoll, who previously gained recognition on the Nickelodeon sitcom 'Every Witch Way', was introduced to the 'Next Gen NYC' cast as a friend of Brooks Marks. He quickly developed an interest in Biermann, who had recently ended a long-term relationship. "She’s just super chill, down to earth, and she’s got a great smile. We had a good connection right off the bat," Obergfoll told DECIDER.
While Obergfoll declined to provide extensive details about the progression of his relationship with Biermann, he confirmed that he met her mother, Kim Zolciak, renowned for her role in 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta,' via FaceTime. "Me and Kim have some inside jokes," he shared.
However, the connection between Obergfoll and Biermann proved to be short-lived, as Biermann rekindled her romance with her ex-boyfriend Hudson McLeroy in the spring. Obergfoll expressed well wishes for the couple, stating, "I wish them the best. I hope they’re both happy and doing their thing. Hudson is a good kid, and I think with time, a friendship could grow."
Obergfoll also addressed his transition into reality television, an area he had not extensively pursued despite a substantial acting background. "It’s something new," he said of his decision to join 'Next Gen NYC.' "I have watched a little bit of it, had an idea of the world, opportunity presented itself, and here we are. It was a great time."
He explained his friendship with Brooks Marks, stating they met through social circles in New York City. Obergfoll also touched upon his initial nervousness about working with Gia Giudice, daughter of 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey' star Teresa Giudice. "I was a little bit nervous about Gia, but just because she’s a personality. She’s got that Jersey [personality]," he noted, adding that they have since developed a strong friendship.
Beyond his reality TV endeavors, Obergfoll maintains a busy lifestyle, engaging in activities such as ski instructing, volunteer firefighting, equestrianism, motorcycling, surfing, and playing on multiple hockey teams. He views this packed schedule as beneficial for his mental health and as a means to broaden his acting capabilities. "As an actor, you need to fill your plate," Obergfoll explained. "That’s how the horse came about, right? I wanted to be ready for the Yellowstone audition. Never got it, but ended up buying a horse. So, as an actor, you want to learn as many things, fill your resume, and fill that kind of list, and that’s what I’m trying to do."
Obergfoll also revealed that he auditioned for an HBO hockey show that he believes may have evolved into the series 'Heated Rivalry,' though he did not secure a role. He also expressed interest in potentially appearing in future projects like 'Off Campus.'
Reflecting on the cast of 'Next Gen NYC,' Obergfoll noted that despite the show's focus on
