Liam Gallagher has purchased the Cotswolds mansion of former England footballer Tony Adams for £4 million, £250,000 less than its asking price. The eight-bedroom property in the village of Coates, near Cirencester, is set within five acres and includes a swimming pool, tennis court, and a two-bedroom cottage.
The acquisition places Gallagher among a growing number of high-profile individuals who have recently acquired property in the Cotswolds region. The area has become a sought-after destination for celebrities, earning it the nickname the "new Hollywood." Past and present residents include the Beckhams, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, Kate Moss, and Hugh Grant.
Gallagher, 53, who recently reconciled with his brother Noel, potentially paving the way for an Oasis reunion tour, appears to be embracing a quieter lifestyle in the countryside. He previously tweeted in January, "To all the BEAUTIFUL people from the Cotswolds, I come in peace. You won't even know I'm there, I'm not like all those divvy celebrities who like to show off I'm LO FI as you were, LG x."
Adams purchased the property after concluding his 19-year playing career. Estate agents described the home as offering a blend of elegance and tranquility, with classic architecture and Cotswold charm. The interior features versatile entertainment spaces, including a cinema and games room that once displayed Arsenal memorabilia, such as Adams' former No. 6 shirt. The main house includes formal drawing rooms, dining areas, and spacious bedrooms, with the master suite featuring a large dressing room and ensuite bathroom.
Other notable figures who have established residences in the Cotswolds include David and Victoria Beckham, who purchased a farmhouse in 2016 that underwent extensive renovations. Jeremy Clarkson owns a £12.5 million mansion near Chipping Norton, and Ellen DeGeneres and her partner Portia de Rossi acquired a property in the area, later moving into a custom-built home.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z were reportedly considering a country retreat in the Cotswolds earlier this year but are said to have withdrawn their plans. The village of Coates itself has a population of approximately 500 to 600 residents. The area has seen instances of local opposition to new developments, such as a previous plan to build 24 houses and a village hall near Bledisloe House, a historic Grade II-listed property purchased for £9.25 million in 2019.
