Former NFL running back LeSean McCoy has publicly supported Daejon Labrayae Love, a man accused of scamming women by posing as a player for the San Francisco 49ers. Love, 35, was arrested in Boise, Idaho, along with alleged accomplice Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, and faces charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud, according to an FBI affidavit.
McCoy, appearing on his show "Speakeasy," defended Love by comparing his alleged actions to women who display wealth on social media. "Every time a man does something, they want to crucify us for it. I watch women do this all the freaking time!" McCoy stated. He continued, referring to women flaunting luxury items like Birkin bags online, "'I'm a self-(made) millionaire, I got all these things going on, right? So you meet her, you date her, and now, as your girlfriend you like, 'Oh, she's been scamming me.'"
Investigators allege that Love used football-related imagery to support his claims of being a 49ers player. Video obtained by OutKick appears to show Love signing what he represented as an NFL contract, stating, "Niners, you already know, Niner gang." Representatives for the 49ers and the NFL have stated that Love was never employed by either organization. The alleged scheme reportedly defrauded 26 women across Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and California of approximately $1.3 million.
McCoy acknowledged that both presenting oneself falsely and scamming are wrong but argued they are distinct. He suggested that regardless of whether someone is posing with expensive handbags or trying to convince others they signed an NFL deal, the truth eventually surfaces. "It's better to just accept what you are than get caught being something you're not," McCoy said.
Daejon Love was reportedly arrested in Boise, Idaho. The legal process is ongoing. [
