Legendary 1Oak Club Reemerges for NYFW, Hints at Permanent Downtown Return
The iconic nightclub, which closed during the pandemic, hosted a star-studded New York Fashion Week event and is rumored to be planning a February reopening.
The famed nightclub 1Oak made a comeback during New York Fashion Week, hosting a bash at its former West 17th Street location that drew a constellation of stars. Among the notable attendees were Leonardo DiCaprio, Cindy Crawford and her daughter Kaia Gerber, Winnie Harlow, Future, Ice Spice, and Anwar Hadid.
Sources indicate that the venue, managed by Richie Akiva and Darren Dzienciol, is slated to be available for events up to twelve times annually. There is also speculation that 1Oak may reopen in a new, permanent downtown location as early as February.
This return follows the club's closure during the COVID-19 pandemic. The venue was reportedly evicted in 2021 due to accumulated back rent. A representative for Akiva previously stated that the matter was resolved and funds recouped, with the court case dropped in February 2019.
While Dzienciol referred to the current activity as a "farewell tour," sources suggest that plans for a more significant revival are underway. One insider noted that the NYFW event could be a prelude to more 1Oak pop-ups, private events, and parties.
The club, originally opened in 2007 by Akiva and former partner Scott Sartiano, was a prominent fixture in the bottle-service era, attracting celebrities such as Drake, Jay-Z, Pharrell Williams, Justin Bieber, Lenny Kravitz, Paris Hilton, and Lindsay Lohan. It was also the site of celebrations for the New York Yankees' 2009 World Series victory and was notably where pitcher Matt Harvey infamously failed to appear for a Mets game in 2017 after a night of partying.
