Singer Lee Greenwood, known for his patriotic anthem "God Bless the USA," has expressed his pride and honor in participating in the upcoming Fourth of July celebration in Washington, D.C., alongside President Donald Trump. The event coincides with the nation's 250th anniversary.

Greenwood told Fox News Digital that he was "very proud" to stand with Trump and "flattered and honored" to be part of the country's milestone celebration. He views the occasion as a moment to celebrate America's 250 years as a republic, emphasizing that it should not be a political event.

"I'm sorry about that. You know, in this case, there's no politics here," Greenwood said regarding other artists who had withdrawn from the event. "This is celebrating America, this wonderful place that we have for 250 years of our republic."

He indicated that when performing, he would not be considering political affiliations such as Democrats, Republicans, or Independents. "We have to celebrate America, and I'm sorry they're not going to perform," he added. "I will stand with our fantastic president, however, on … July 4th in Washington, D.C."

Greenwood, who has been a supporter of Trump "from the very beginning," noted that he and his wife, Kimberly Payne, have been friends with the president for a considerable time. "I'm just very proud to stand next to the man that I appreciate that runs our country," he stated.

Reflecting on historical lessons for future generations, Greenwood addressed the notion of national division by recalling periods such as the Civil War, the Revolutionary War, and Vietnam. He asserted that despite challenges, the United States remains "the only free country in the world that will take care of everyone else." As the nation approaches its 250th anniversary, Greenwood acknowledged future challenges but expressed optimism, concluding, "God bless this wonderful place."
