LeBron James Criticized for Helicopter Travel After Knicks Admission

Philadelphia 76ers star LeBron James is facing criticism from fans for traveling to New York City by private helicopter, a day after he admitted he had considered joining the Knicks in free agency. James was seen departing the 76ers' training facility on Tuesday and proceeded to a rooftop helipad for his commute to his New York home.

James has stated his intention to split his time between New York City and Philadelphia during the upcoming 2026-27 NBA season. While a car journey between the two cities typically takes under two hours, the helicopter flight reduces travel time to approximately 45 minutes.

The timing of this travel arrangement follows James's public revelation that he had envisioned playing for and finishing his career with the New York Knicks. He told ESPN on Monday, "I had visions of playing in [Madison Square] Garden and finishing my career in the Garden. One of the best places I've ever played." He added, "I think it's the No. 1 arena in the world, as far as for a basketball player. But after they beat San Antonio, I was like 'Hey, I can't.' I couldn't do it."

The admission and subsequent helicopter commute drew sharp reactions from fans online. "He hate Philly he really wanted to be in NY," one user commented on X.
