Leaked Chats Reveal Internal Pentagon Conflict Over Army Leadership

A rift has emerged within the Pentagon concerning the leadership of the U.S. Army, evidenced by leaked group chat messages that reveal tensions and a disparaging nickname for a candidate favored by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. The communications highlight an internal struggle for command of the Army's top job, even with Hegseth's clear support for one individual.

One group chat, reportedly titled 'BigP UPDATES (AFOO),' with AFOO meaning 'Army front office only,' contains messages from Army officials discussing Acting Army Secretary Adam Telle. Telle, who reportedly has been angling to secure the position permanently despite Hegseth informing him it would be a temporary appointment, has been referred to with a vulgar nickname within some Army circles. According to one official cited by the Daily Mail, Telle is "affectionately or unaffectionately he's called 'Big P***y' through some of the Army staff, which is kind of hilarious." IMAGE2

Sources indicate that Telle was displeased after a recent impromptu speech given by Sean Parnell at the AUSA event. Hegseth is reportedly advocating for his chief spokesman, Sean Parnell, to be appointed as the full-time Army Secretary. This preference is shared by some rank-and-file soldiers who are reportedly turned off by Telle's lack of military service.

Hegseth has discussed the possibility of Parnell's full-time appointment with the president, according to multiple Pentagon sources. The internal conflict appears to be centered on the clash between Telle's ambition to retain the role and Hegseth's preference for Parnell, who has a military background.
