Lea Michele Reportedly Set to Star in ‘Glee’ Reboot

Lea Michele is reportedly returning to the screen for a reboot of the musical dramedy "Glee," with sources telling Variety that she is set to reprise her role as Rachel Berry. The new series is expected to be a joint production between Disney+ and Hulu.

A source close to the production indicated that Michele "is in," adding, “It’s still early-ish days, but it feels good and we’re happy to get the band back together.” Representatives for Michele and "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy have not yet responded to requests for comment.

Michele starred as Rachel Berry, an ambitious member of the William McKinley High School Glee Club, for the entirety of the original series' run from 2009 to 2015. Her performance earned her a Primetime Emmy Award nomination and two Golden Globe nominations.

Speculation about a "Glee" reboot has been ongoing, with Michele herself expressing enthusiasm for a potential return. In a previous interview with E! News, she stated, "I love ‘Glee,’ I will always love ‘Glee.’ I love Ryan Murphy. I will follow Ryan [Murphy] wherever he goes." She emphasized that the show "holds such a special place in my heart."

Other original cast members have also hinted at their involvement. Heather Morris, who played Brittany Pierce, posted a throwback photo on Instagram, writing, “Brittany S Pierce was in fact lost in the sewers for all these years. But I’m here to inform you that she is alive and well…And back for more #Glee.” Chord Overstreet, who portrayed Sam Evans, shared on X, “Reunited and it feels so good!”

Michele's portrayal of Rachel Berry was central to the series, charting her journey from a high school student to a Broadway performer. The character was known for her strong voice and determination.

"Glee" was a cultural phenomenon during its original run, lauded for its musical performances and storylines that tackled various social issues. The series concluded in 2015, leaving a significant impact on popular culture.
