Former NFL star LaVar Arrington has declared the Dallas Cowboys the winners of the trade that sent defensive lineman Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers, citing an "addition by subtraction" scenario.

Arrington, a Penn State alum and former Washington Commanders player, acknowledged his reluctance to credit the Cowboys but ultimately awarded them the victory in the trade that occurred a year ago. The Cowboys sent their four-time Pro Bowler Parsons, then 26, to the Packers in exchange for two first-round draft picks and defensive lineman Kenny Clark. Initially, the trade was met with skepticism, as the Cowboys' defense reportedly declined significantly without Parsons.

However, Arrington noted that the Cowboys utilized the acquired draft picks to select Quinnen Williams and Malachi Lawrence, among other players. He stated that these acquisitions were sufficient to sway his opinion in favor of Dallas. "If you're saying addition by subtraction, you probably gotta say… Cowboys," Arrington said, while on the red carpet at the Harold & Carole Pump Foundation 26th Anniversary Celebrity Dinner.

Parsons and the Packers will have an opportunity to influence Arrington's assessment in the upcoming season. Parsons is expected to return from knee surgery in time to play against the Cowboys at Lambeau Field in Week 6. The pass rusher's performance in that game and throughout the season could potentially alter perceptions of the trade's outcome.
