Actress Lauren Tom, known for her role in the sitcom "Friends," announced Sunday that her 25-year-old daughter, Ellie, has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer.

Tom shared the "tough news" in an Instagram post, stating that her family is actively supporting Ellie's healing process. "She is currently battling osteosarcoma, (bone cancer) and my family and I are doing everything we can to aid in her healing," Tom wrote.

The "Supernatural" voice actress also extended thanks to friends, family, and the medical staff at Cedars-Sinai for their "boundless support, love, and care." She noted the humbling experience of witnessing people's willingness to help.

Tom described Ellie as "an amazing, deep, sensitive, wise, strong, brave, intelligent, and funny soul," acknowledging that a "long journey ahead" lies before them. She requested prayers for Ellie's complete recovery and encouraged followers to offer support through comments on her post or Ellie's Instagram account.

Tom, who shares Ellie and her son Leo with husband Curt Kaplan, previously played Julie, Ross Geller's girlfriend, in "Friends" during its second season. Her extensive voice acting career includes roles in "Futurama" and "King of the Hill," and she has appeared in other television shows such as "Grace Under Fire" and "Andi Mack."
