Laura Hamilton Shares Hot Tub Update Amidst Discussion of Mum-Shaming and Career Choices

A Place In The Sun host Laura Hamilton recently shared an update on her home, showcasing a new family-sized hot tub in her garden while clad in a blue bikini. The TV personality, 44, posted on Instagram to detail the installation process, expressing her satisfaction with the new addition.

"What a journey! From choosing the perfect spa to planning, prep and installation… When I look back, it has certainly been a journey," Hamilton wrote in a post that also served as an advertisement for Bullfrog Spas and Aqua Hot Tubs. She thanked the companies for their assistance throughout the process and noted that she is making extensive use of the hot tub.

This home update comes shortly after Hamilton disclosed that she experienced "mum-shaming" for returning to work just three weeks after giving birth. Hamilton, who shares son Rocco, 12, and daughter Tahlia, 11, with her ex-husband Alex Goward, has previously spoken about her immediate return to work after each child's birth. She recalled that midwives were surprised when she contacted the passport office for her newborn son shortly after his arrival and that her children often traveled with her until they started school.

In a recent interview on the HELLO! Second Act podcast, Hamilton discussed the backlash she received on social media for bringing her young children on her travels. She stated that people commented, "oh it would be nice if she spent more time with her kids," and emphasized that individuals should not be judged for their personal choices regarding parenting.

"We should never be judged for the choices that we make. We just do what we think is right for us," Hamilton said. She added that while she is their mother, she is also an individual who was a person before having children and did not want to lose that identity.

The presenter also revealed that the trolling influenced her decision to keep her current relationship private, following scrutiny during her 13-year marriage to her former partner, which ended in January 2022. "I had a public relationship, even though he wasn't a public guy. I took the conscious decision that when my relationship ended, going forward, I would never talk about future relationships," she stated, confirming she is dating someone but remains discreet.

Despite the divorce, Hamilton views the situation positively, describing it as moving on to the next part of her story. She stressed the importance of co-parenting and keeping children at the center of decisions.

Hamilton and Goward, who married in 2012, reportedly faced difficulties during lockdown. Hamilton has pushed back against remarks suggesting that their co-parenting arrangement is "sad for the children," arguing that it is beneficial for children to spend time with both parents, especially when those parents are happier.

She has also stated that she could not give up her career, despite the challenges of balancing motherhood and travel. "I have every respect for anyone who's a full-time mum, I just couldn't do that. I love my career as well as being a mum, and I've managed to find a way to make it work," Hamilton told The Sun. She coordinates her filming schedule with her children's time with their father and acknowledged her employer's flexibility in allowing her to travel with her children when possible.
