Television presenter Laura Hamilton has spoken out about the emotional toll of witnessing a teenager's death at sea, an event that has left her struggling to sleep.
Hamilton, 44, who is known for her role on "A Place In The Sun," recounted the harrowing experience on a recent trip. After finishing filming for the day, she went to a nearby beach and encountered a scene of distress.
"I got about three hours sleep last night, and I think it's because of what I saw on the beach yesterday afternoon," Hamilton stated. "My mind was just racing and I was kind of repicturing the things that I saw."
Upon arriving at the beach, Hamilton observed commotion and learned that a fatality had occurred. She initially believed the individual was older but later discovered it was a 19-year-old boy. Resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful.
"I can't begin to imagine what that poor boy's family are thinking and feeling this morning," she said.
As a mother of two, Hamilton emphasized the importance of water safety. "If you're letting your children go into the sea, even as a grown up going into the sea, just be careful," she advised. She reflected on the fragility of life and the importance of appreciating loved ones.
"It was a kind of crazy thing to sort of see and witness and it just reminds us all that life is short," Hamilton added. "We don't know what's around the corner, so make sure you appreciate the people in your life because nobody knows what tomorrow holds."
