His death is being investigated as a suspected overdose. Sources close to the investigation told TMZ that Presley had checked into the facility the night before his death and was found in a bedroom after experiencing cardiac arrest. The Santa Monica Police Department confirmed that officers responded to a report of a possible overdose and found a deceased adult male. Detectives are investigating the death as a suspected overdose, with no indication of foul play at this time. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not yet determined the official cause of death, though an autopsy has been completed.

Details emerging from the investigation suggest Presley was found near, but not on, his bed. While the presence of fentanyl has not been a focus, toxicology reports are pending for final confirmation of any substances involved. Audio from the 911 dispatch call, obtained by the Daily Mail, indicated a progression from cardiac arrest to an overdose within minutes.

Reports also indicate that a physician had prescribed ketamine to Presley, despite awareness of his past struggles with the drug. Sources close to Presley expressed anger over this prescription, as ketamine is not FDA-approved for addiction treatment. "Palm Royale" co-stars Dern and Gerber were last pictured together in November 2024, while Dern and Crawford were seen together at an event in October 2025.
