Laura Adamson, sister of television personality Vicky Pattison, has disclosed the details of her recent battle with cancer, a fight she kept private for the past year. Adamson shared on Instagram that approximately eight months ago, she received what she described as "the worst news of my life" when her cancer was found to have "spread too far" for an immediate operation.
She recounted that an initial surgery was abandoned, and she was stitched back up. Adamson then endured a "two agonizing weeks" to determine the cancer's advanced stage and the possibility of future surgical intervention. "I didn’t know if I was even going to live to see this moment, but here I am, happy healthy and hopefully cancer free, with latest test results pending," she wrote.
Adamson expressed gratitude for her current health status and for being able to witness her daughter, Mavie, start a new school year. "You never know what’s around the corner but today I am grateful. Grateful that I got to see my gorgeous baby happily skip into her new class. My Mavie girl, you keep me going. I love you more than words," she stated.
Her mother, Caroll, responded to the post with a message of pride, writing, "Love you my amazing girl. I am so very proud of you. What an incredible Mammy you are to such a beautiful girl." Laura replied, thanking her mother for staying in a separate room during her treatment.
Candice Brown, a star of The Great British Bake Off, called Adamson an "absolute warrior" and a "superhero." Adamson attributed her resilience to her daughter, saying, "It was all Mavie she kept me going."
Vicky Pattison had previously alluded to her sister's health struggles, posting on Instagram about a birthday party she organized for Laura. Pattison described wanting to make the celebration "extra special" and used the hashtag "#F**kCancer." The party featured a pizza truck, a large spread of food, and gift bags containing pajamas and lip balm. Pattison shared on Instagram that the event included renting a cabin by a lake, a pajama party, and cake, surrounded by family and friends.
