A visitor to Las Vegas reported waking up to find $1,200 in cash missing and more than $32,000 in unauthorized transactions after a night that included a hot tub session with two women at The Cosmopolitan's Aria hotel.
The tourist told the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department that he met one of the women at the Marquee Nightclub on Feb. 24. According to his account, the two returned to his hotel room, where surveillance footage indicated a second woman joined them.
The man stated he had consumed approximately 10 mixed drinks and had no recollection of how he returned to his room. He also told investigators he did not believe the women were sex workers and that there was no agreement for payment for sexual acts.
According to police, the man recounted that the three used the hot tub, shared a bottle of wine, and subsequently went to sleep. Surveillance video later showed the two women leaving the hotel around 6:34 a.m. and departing in a taxi.
When the tourist awoke around 9 a.m., he discovered his wallet had been opened and $1,200 was missing. He also received notifications for $9,113 in unauthorized transactions via Apple Pay and alerts from Wells Fargo for an additional $23,400 in charges.
Investigators identified the women as Brenae Sandusky and Linda Green. Their names matched recipients of unauthorized wire transfers initiated from the man's phone. The case progressed in August when prosecutors filed charges against both women.
Court records indicate a warrant has been issued for Green, who faces a felony charge of grand larceny involving property valued between $5,000 and $25,000. A warrant has also been issued for Sandusky, who faces a felony charge of theft valued between $25,000 and $100,000.
