A Las Vegas man has been charged with open murder after allegedly killing his girlfriend and her two children, claiming he experienced a "blackout" after she admitted to infidelity. Juan Orona, 29, turned himself in to authorities Tuesday evening with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

According to an arrest report, Orona told police he confronted his girlfriend, Nohani Flores-Osuna, at an apartment complex in west Las Vegas after seeing her car near her ex-boyfriend's vehicle. Orona stated that Flores-Osuna admitted to cheating on him and claimed her ex-boyfriend was "better in bed."

Orona then claimed he "blacked out" and subsequently found himself in the bathroom holding his 9mm Glock handgun. He stated that Flores-Osuna and her two children, identified as Maiya, 16, and Noah, a kindergartner, were found dead on the floor.

Police responded to the apartment on O'Bannon Drive and forced entry, discovering the three victims deceased. Orona reportedly told investigators he recalled the victims yelling at him or coming toward him during his alleged blackout but could not provide further details. He did not deny the shootings but stated he could not remember the sequence or the motive.

Orona informed dispatchers that the shootings occurred inside the apartment he shared with the family and that the weapon was in a backpack in his vehicle. He was transported to Sunrise Hospital for treatment of his gunshot wound; the report does not specify if the injury was self-inflicted.

Orona and Flores-Osuna had been dating for approximately three to six months, and he had contributed to the apartment's rent. His father told police that Orona called him Tuesday evening stating he had harmed his girlfriend and her children, and Orona later surrendered with his father and brother present.

At a court hearing, Orona's public defender requested a delay to review the case before a bail decision. Orona faces three counts of open murder with a deadly weapon and 10 counts of firing a gun into an occupied structure. He is scheduled to appear in court again on September 9 and remains in the Clark County Detention Center.
