A Little League president in Las Vegas is accused of embezzling nearly $65,000 from the Central Little League chapter to finance a personal lifestyle that included strip clubs, casinos, and erectile dysfunction medication. Steve Rodriguez Prado, who was elected president on December 10, 2025, allegedly began diverting funds from the league's Wells Fargo account shortly after taking office.
According to reports citing an arrest report, Prado is accused of making at least 79 separate transfers via the payment service Zelle from the league's account to either his personal accounts or a business owned by his wife. The funds were allegedly used for various personal expenditures, including a $1,351 charge at a Las Vegas strip club, where a bottle of Don Julio 1942 tequila, a bucket of Modelo, and gratuity totaled $1,351. He also reportedly spent $294 on Blue Chew, an erectile dysfunction medication.
Further alleged expenditures include $1,976 at casino-resort bars and for valet services, $1,454 on ride-share services and electric vehicle charging, PlayStation-related charges, and two Spirit Airlines charges totaling $108.
League officials noticed discrepancies in the bank account in January and reported the alleged theft to the police in April. Parents were informed via email about the account inconsistencies, with officials clearing other league members of wrongdoing. During the investigation into the financial irregularities, Prado reportedly attempted to alter documents to conceal the alleged theft. This included changing a $2,051.23 Geico charge to appear as a $50.23 purchase at Dick's Sporting Goods and disguising a $5,000 transfer to his wife's company as a cash infusion from her to the league.
Prado was arrested on July 2 and charged with theft between $25,000 and $100,000, two counts of forgery, and failing to register as a convicted person. He was booked and subsequently released on a $17,000 surety bond the same day. Following his arrest, Prado reportedly told police that the situation had been "blown out of proportion." His next court appearance is scheduled for July 30.
Records indicate Prado has a prior felony conviction from 2012 in Riverside, California, for robbery, receiving stolen property, and conspiracy to commit robbery. Despite these convictions, he reportedly passed the national background checks required for youth sports officials, allowing him to assume the role of Little League president. Robert Fleming, Nevada District 2 administrator, stated that Prado's name had somehow gone through the background check process and was approved.
