Lara Trump has voiced strong disapproval of parents who allow their children excessive screen time, stating that such practices are detrimental and "setting them up for failure." During a recent appearance on The Riley Gaines Show, Trump, a mother of two, revealed that she and her husband, Eric Trump, do not permit their children to use any electronic devices.
"Eric and I don't give our kids any devices, nothing, ever," Trump told host Riley Gaines. She contrasted her approach with that of other parents, expressing dismay at seeing children engrossed in phones or tablets at restaurants. "I go to a restaurant and I see all of these kids on phones or on tablets, and I'm sorry, I cannot condone that," she stated.
Trump elaborated on her concerns, suggesting that early exposure to screens and the resulting "dopamine hit" can hinder a child's ability to derive satisfaction from interpersonal communication. "They're getting this dopamine hit from looking at a screen at three years old or whatever it is, they're never going to be able to get that same feeling from interpersonal communication if you don't teach it to them," she explained.
While acknowledging that it might be easier in the short term to placate children with devices, Trump underscored the importance of focusing on their long-term well-being. She emphasized the significant role parents play in shaping the next generation, stating, "This is our future. We are raising who will ultimately guide our country when we're all old and it's up to our kids' generation to take over, so we better do the right thing."
The interview occurred days after the Trump family attended the 2026 World Cup Final at MetLife Stadium. Lara Trump and her husband brought their two children to the soccer match, where they were seen with other family members, including Tiffany Trump, Ivanka Trump, and Donald Trump Jr., as well as their partners. Former President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and their son Barron Trump also attended the event in a separate area.
In addition to her parenting views, Trump also discussed her fitness regimen. She described a varied routine that includes Pilates, biking, running, weightlifting, and CrossFit, noting that she trains for triathlons and aims to keep her body guessing. "I do a little bit of everything," she said, adding that she prioritizes her workouts regardless of her busy schedule.
