Lanterns Season Finale Airs Tonight on HBO

HBO's superhero drama "Lanterns" concludes its first season tonight, Sunday, October 4, 2026, with its eighth episode, titled "Dirt and Stars." The finale is set to air at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and will also be available for streaming on HBO Max.

The series, which stars Kyle Chandler as Green Lantern Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, has captivated audiences over the past two months with its blend of comic book lore and grounded storytelling. The penultimate episode left viewers with several unresolved plot threads, including the mysterious circumstances surrounding Hal Jordan's death and Sinestro's escape from his Oan prison.

This season finale is expected to provide resolutions to these key narrative arcs.

"Lanterns" premiered on August 16, with subsequent episodes released weekly on Sundays. The full episode list and their original air dates are as follows:

Episode 1: "Pilot" - August 16 Episode 2: "Trust Fall" - August 23 Episode 3: "OutKast" - August 30 Episode 4: "The Weenie" - September 6 Episode 5: "Lights Out" - September 13 Episode 6: "Bad Optics" - September 20 Episode 7: "The Jordan Boys’ Legacy" - September 27 Episode 8: "Dirt and Stars" - October 4

Viewers can watch "Lanterns" with an HBO or HBO Max subscription. HBO Max is available for $10.99 per month with ads or $18.49 per month without ads. A discounted bundle including Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max is also offered, priced at $19.99 per month with ads and $32.99 per month without ads.

While the second season of "Lanterns" has not yet been officially confirmed, the series' popularity suggests a potential renewal. Regardless of a second season, Aaron Pierre is slated to reprise his role as John Stewart in an upcoming film following "Superman, Man of Tomorrow."

The cast of "Lanterns" includes Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre, Kelly Macdonald, Poorna Jagannathan, Nathan Fillion, Jason Ritter, Ulrich Thomsen, and Shea Pritchard.
